Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the United States and is a Greek-American author, syndicated journalist and a businesswoman. She founded The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington is an actor, journalist, philanthropist and author for more than 10 years. Her role also includes being the founder of The Huffington Post, an independently-liberal online newsmagazine. Following her move into England from Greece at the age of 16, she received a MA in Economics at Cambridge University. In her 21st year, she was president of the renowned debate society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student who was elected to this position. A conservative syndicated blogger following her graduation, she became a voice of the Huffington Post. The fame of her name helped in getting several high-profile contributors to publish their thoughts about news from the world of politics and culture. Arianna's celebrity status began in 2003, when she declared herself an independent candidate for the California recall election to succeed then-Governor Davis. Arianna was also part of an initiative in Detroit that promoted fuel-efficient automobiles. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as the most influential women in media gaining 12th position in the list. The same year the Guardian included her in the top 100 list of media. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her president of the media group, which also included the other AOL products like Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Her parents were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos who was an expert in management and a journalist. Her life was shaped by her closeness to her mother, and the bond she shared with her dad, even though she was very close to him. In her earliest years she demonstrated leadership skills that remain highly respected. At the age of 16, she moved over into England in the United Kingdom for her higher education. She attended Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college in which she became the first woman to hold the position of president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned the degree of Master's in Economics. After her graduation she worked as a journalist-critic and TV host. Additionally, she starred together with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with his editorial assistance.
